A 28-year-old man of no fixed address received a three-month prison sentence, suspended for one year, at Derry Magistrates Court. Conor Duff broke a window at a local bed and breakfast where he had stayed.

Police arrested Duff on March 1 following a call from a staff member at the bed and breakfast. The staff member reported a loud bang and saw Duff near the damaged window of his former room.

CCTV footage allowed the staff member to confirm Duff's identity. Once in custody, authorities found him unable to take part in an interview.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley informed the court that Duff had no previous convictions. Quigley noted Duff refused to leave his cell or interact with officers during detention. Duff offered no reason for his actions, according to Quigley.
