Man Arrested in Arson Case at Omagh Historic House
Police in Northern Ireland arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of arson at Crevenagh House, a property on the outskirts of Omagh in County Tyrone. The fire took place on Sunday, February 21, and fully destroyed the building.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland released the suspect on bail pending further investigation. Officers launched an inquiry immediately after the blaze.
Crevenagh House, constructed over 200 years ago, had stood empty since its sale more than two decades ago. The structure had deteriorated over recent years.
The Omagh Heritage Group noted concerns over the disrepair of such properties and urged action to safeguard historic sites in the area.
Omagh lies in the west of Northern Ireland, where efforts to preserve built heritage face challenges from vacancy and neglect.
