NI Water Runs Second Year of Engineering Work Experience for Students
NI Water hosted 20 students aged 16-19 from schools and colleges across Northern Ireland in its Engineering Work Experience Programme. The initiative, now in its second year, partners with the social mobility charity Futures for All.
Participants completed two virtual sessions led by NI Water engineers. These covered the role of engineering in providing clean drinking water and treating wastewater.
The programme ended with a visit to Dorisland Water Treatment Works near Carrickfergus in County Antrim. Students toured the site and completed practical engineering tasks.
Helen Devlin, NI Water Head of HR Operations, stated the programme shows students potential careers at the company. She highlighted student enthusiasm and the aim to boost access to water industry jobs and social mobility. NI Water plans further hybrid placements in finance, IT, general business in June 2026, and science in November 2026.
