NI Water Completes £3.2m Wastewater Treatment Plant in Monea
NI Water completed a £3.2 million wastewater treatment works in Monea, near Enniskillen. The facility uses aerated reed beds to process effluent.
Construction started in 2024 and lasted almost two years. GRAHAM served as the main contractor, with RPS Tetratech handling project management and technical support.
Martin Armstrong, NI Water Project Manager, stated the plant supports area growth and improves water quality in Monea River and Lower Lough Erne.
Ciaran Moohan, Contracts Manager at GRAHAM, noted the project reflects collaboration on sustainable infrastructure in Northern Ireland.
The site addresses increased development and provides economic and environmental gains.
NI Water has built similar nature-based facilities in Loughries in County Down, Stoneyford in County Antrim, Clabby and Castle Archdale in County Fermanagh, and Ballykelly and Aghanloo in County Londonderry.
Plans exist for new treatment works in Garrison and Belleek under the PEACEPLUS-funded WEST project.
