Teenage Goalkeeper Lawton McMahon Signs Professional Contract with Bangor FC
Seventeen-year-old goalkeeper Lawton McMahon, from Clandeboye in County Down, has signed his first professional contract with Bangor FC, his local club. The deal runs until the summer of 2028.
McMahon, who lives near the club, has become a regular in Bangor FC's first team this season. He made his senior debut at age 16 earlier in the campaign.
McMahon's father, Aaron, described the signing as a 'proud dad moment'. He credited the local community, including volunteers, for supporting his son's development.
Aaron McMahon thanked individuals such as Lee Scott from Bangor Young Men, Louise Spence from North Down Community Network, Julie Thomas from Clandeboye Primary School, and Stephen Gilmore from Bangor Grammar School.
Louise Spence called the contract 'testament to [McMahon's] hard work, dedication and character', noting his leadership qualities. Lee Scott, who coached McMahon from a young age, praised his attitude and work ethic.
