Ballymena United have signed striker Chris McKee following the end of his contract with Linfield.

The 24-year-old spent four and a half seasons with Linfield, scoring 46 goals in over 150 appearances. He netted the decisive goal in last season's BetMcLean Cup final against Glentoran.

McKee began his career at Rangers, spending four years in the Scottish club's B team and having a loan spell at Brechin City. He moved to Linfield on an initial loan in January 2022 before joining permanently that summer.

The forward has been capped eight times for Northern Ireland Under-21s, with a goal against Scotland.

McKee said he was seeking a fresh start and was attracted by the club's plans. He believes the existing group of players at the Showgrounds, along with further additions, will form a competitive squad.

Manager Oran Kearney said the club needed to improve its goal tally from last season. He described McKee as an experienced player who will add to the scoring output and is keen for more time on the pitch.
