A sports day in Fintona, County Tyrone, raised £10,022.08 for repairs to the roof of St Lawrence's Chapel.

The event, called Kevin's Old Time Sports Day, was organised by Kevin Hagan and his family. It was held at St Lawrence's GAA pitch.

The sports day had originally been scheduled for June 7 but was postponed due to bad weather. The rescheduled event went ahead without rain.

Kevin Hagan said before the event that St Lawrence's Chapel is nearly 200 years old and the roof needs significant work to keep water out and heat in.

Activities at the sports day included swing boats, sack races, potato-and-spoon races, tug of war, and a fancy dress competition. Each activity cost £1.

Hagan thanked everyone who helped make the day a success, including local businesses.
