Nicky Cassidy, associated with the Westville Hotel in Enniskillen, has been appointed president of the Northern Ireland Hotels Federation. He previously served as vice-president of the organisation.

The federation represents hotels and guesthouses across Northern Ireland. Its role includes promoting industry interests and supporting members.

Cassidy's appointment comes as the sector reports that the number of available hotel bedrooms in Northern Ireland has surpassed 10,000 earlier this year.

The hospitality industry faces challenges including rising operating costs, recruitment pressures, and growing competition in tourism. Cassidy's new role involves representing hoteliers, including those in rural areas.
