A 23-year-old woman from Larne raised over £2,600 for Muscular Dystrophy UK after completing the Antrim Coast Half Marathon in August.

Abbie Best finished second in the race, which drew more than 6,000 participants.

She took part to support her sister, Kacey McGarel, who was diagnosed with limb girdle muscular dystrophy at age 16. The condition is genetic and affects muscles around the hips and shoulders, leading to difficulties with mobility.

Muscular Dystrophy UK provides support and funds research for more than 110,000 people in the UK living with over 60 muscle wasting conditions. The charity also campaigns for access to specialist healthcare.
