Fermanagh Couples Sought for Ideal Couple Competition with Substantial Prize Package
A competition to find Fermanagh's ideal couple was launched in October 1959, offering a prize package worth over £4,500 from more than 20 sponsors. The initiative was run by The Impartial Reporter in conjunction with the Manor House Country Hotel.
Entrants were required to submit a photograph of themselves, either black and white or colour, along with an entry form to The Impartial Reporter's office on East Bridge Street in Enniskillen by 5.30 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 1959.
The winning couple would receive a wedding worth up to £600, a £500 voucher towards a holiday, and a £250 voucher towards carpets. The final judging was scheduled for October 30, when judges would assess couples' interest in their future life after the wedding.
The Manor House Country Hotel was to be involved in hosting the winning couple in November. Entry forms could be obtained from The Impartial Reporter or any of the participating businesses.
The competition was open to couples from County Fermanagh.
