Foras na Gaeilge seeks nominations for 2026 Irish language award as part of Aisling Awards
Foras na Gaeilge is collaborating again this year with the Aisling Awards to find an Irish language group or activist deserving of recognition in 2026.
The Irish language award has been presented to various groups over the past thirty years, including Glór na Móna, Raidió Fáilte, An Ceathrú Póilí and Cumann Chluain Árd. These initiatives have contributed to fostering and strengthening the Irish language community in Belfast.
Last year the award went to the vocational training college Gaelchúrsaí, and Saibhreas Mháire from Cumann Chluain Árd received a special recognition award.
Foras na Gaeilge is now seeking nominations for a new group of enterprising Irish speakers for the 2026 award.
Deputy Chief Executive of Foras na Gaeilge, Conall Ó Máirtín, said the organisation is delighted to sponsor the Irish language award again this year.
He said the awards give particular recognition and encouragement to the great work that groups are doing on the ground to promote Irish.
He noted that pioneering work is being carried out across the city for the Irish language, and he thanked all those involved. He also congratulated the groups and individuals who have won Irish language awards this year.
He said their work and efforts are at the heart of the cultural and language progress currently taking place, and that there is strength in unity.
The 30th Aisling Awards will take place at the Europa Hotel on Friday 27 November.
Nominations can be made through the Aisling Events website.
