The Waterfoot Hotel in Derry has been acquired by a local hotel operating company led by Ciaran O'Neill, Managing Director. The takeover will take effect at the beginning of October.

O'Neill confirmed the acquisition, stating that the company is committed to a long-term investment programme to enhance and modernise the hotel while retaining its character and local importance.

The Waterfoot Hotel, which opened in 1982, is located just off the Caw Roundabout close to the banks of the River Foyle in the Waterside area of the city. It was one of the first boutique hotels established in Derry.

O'Neill is an established figure in Derry's hospitality sector and currently operates the Bishop's Gate Hotel within the historic city walls. His career in hospitality spans more than 35 years.

Laura Davies will lead the new management team as General Manager, bringing extensive experience in the local hospitality market. She said the focus will be on delivering a great guest experience, supporting the team, and building on the hotel's strong reputation.

Michael O'Neill will join as Deputy General Manager. He highlighted the hotel's strong reputation and long-standing connection with the local community and expressed enthusiasm for its future development.
