Wee Sleep Ireland, a new guesthouse at 51 Strand Road in Derry, opened bookings on April 10. The 12-room property has filled for the Jazz Festival.

Kevin Pyke, Matthew Montgomery, Christopher Brolly and Thomas Brolly launched the business. Pyke took over the building in 2023 after it served as a hostel. Renovations started in 2024.

Pyke has 30 years in hospitality across Europe. He described the guesthouse as a new type of operation for him in Derry, where demand for rooms remains high.

Montgomery highlighted the central location with parking, focus on cleanliness and comfort. Guests reach most spots in three minutes. Nearby venues include eateries, Omniplex cinema and Quayside Shopping Centre.

The self check-in service runs around the clock. Staff assist via phone 24/7.

Local artist Peaball created stair artwork to showcase Derry. Pyke and Montgomery noted its role in representing the area for tourists.

The guesthouse has hosted a German Parliament member and serves families and couples.
