A 41-year-old man has appeared in court accused of possessing a knife and attempting to damage a bingo hall door in Ballymena.

Maciej Masnicki, whose address was given as Fairymount Terrace in Carrickfergus, faces charges relating to an alleged incident on September 4.

He is also charged with possessing cannabis and diazepam on the same date.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court, no further details of the alleged offences were provided.

The defendant was released on continuing bail.

The case was adjourned until November 5.
