A Ballymena man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with possession of multiple drugs with intent to supply and having criminal property.

David Beech, 33, of River View, Ballymena, faces four charges covering a period between April 2024 and October last year. One charge alleges he possessed sildenafil, a prescription-only medicine primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction, with intent to supply it other than in accordance with a prescription. The charge is brought under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012.

He is further charged with possession of cocaine with intent to supply and possession of pregabalin with intent to supply. A fourth charge alleges he was in possession of criminal property, namely bank credits totalling £53,000.

Beech appeared at Antrim Magistrates' Court, sitting in Ballymena, on Tuesday via video link from prison, where he has been on remand. No details of the background to the charges were given to the court.

The district judge remanded the defendant further in custody and sent the case to Antrim Crown Court for arraignment in September.
