A 35-year-old man has been arrested after police stopped a vehicle near Ballymena and later recovered drugs from a property in Lisburn.

Police received a report of a vehicle being driven erratically in the Frosses Road area of Ballymoney. Officers from the Local Policing Team located and stopped the car on the Lisnevenagh Road area near Ballymena on Thursday, 24 September.

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of a large amount of cash. The car was also seized. The driver, a 35-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property.

Further enquiries, guided by the Economic Crime Unit, led officers from the Tactical Support Group to search a property in Lisburn, where they recovered a quantity of drugs.

The man was further arrested on drug-related offences including possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply and possession of a Class A controlled drug.

He was released on bail pending further enquiries and has not been charged.

Detective Inspector McKenna said detectives from the Organised Crime Branch would continue to protect communities from the harm of illegal drugs, and appealed for anyone with information about suspected drugs activity to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
