Rathlin Boathouse Visitor Centre on Rathlin Island has received a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for its service excellence. The award reflects positive reviews received by the visitor servicing team over the last 12 months.

Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Sandra Hunter, met with staff at the Boathouse to congratulate them. She noted that only a small percentage of businesses achieve the standard required for the award.

Council’s Visitor Servicing Officer, Caroline Carey, said visitor information centres give local tourism and hospitality businesses a platform to showcase their experiences and promote local food and craft products. The Rathlin team is set to reopen the Boathouse and other seasonal centres at the end of March 2027 for the Easter break.

The Boathouse houses displays, photographs, images and articles about the island’s history. Rathlin Island lies six miles off the coast of Ballycastle and is known for its cliffs, wildlife and quiet pace of life. The Boathouse closes for the season at the end of September.

In a separate development, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council said it is reducing the debt burden on ratepayers. At a Council meeting, the 2025/26 annual accounts were presented for approval ahead of certification by the Northern Ireland Audit Office. The Council stated it expects an unqualified audit report, meaning auditors are satisfied the accounts are accurate and properly prepared. Council finances remain sustainable while investment continues to deliver benefits for residents and visitors.
