A 15-year-old has become the youngest person to summit the four highest peaks in the UK within 36 hours.

Tyler Reid completed the Four Peaks Challenge in 35 hours, 48 minutes and 34 seconds, finishing 11 minutes inside his target. The challenge involved climbing Slieve Donard in Northern Ireland, Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in England and Ben Nevis in Scotland, including travel time between mountains.

Reid, a student at Lagan College in Belfast, began the challenge at Slieve Donard on Wednesday, September 16, and finished at Ben Nevis. He trained for eight months before the attempt.

His father, Ian Reid, said the family is seeking formal recognition of the achievement as the youngest completion of the Four Peaks in under 36 hours. He described the conditions as severe, with rain, wind, darkness and ice on several mountains.

Reid raised almost £8,000 for Cancer Fund for Children, a charity that supports children and families affected by cancer. He said the toughest moments were overcome by thinking of the finish and the cause.

He was presented with a one-off trophy at the end. Friends Kai and Dylan, who trained with him and completed all four peaks during the training period, met him at Ben Nevis for the final push.

Ian Reid thanked supporters, including Lagan College, for their encouragement.
