A teenager from West Belfast has won two gold medals at the World Wallball Championships held in New York last week.

Nina McBride, a student at St Dominic's and member of St Gall's club, competed in the Girls 15 and Under grade for Team Ireland. She won the Big Ball Singles, defeating Alanna Staunton of Westmeath in the final by scores of 15-10 and 15-5. In the Small Ball Singles, she beat New York's Sara Shi to take her second title.

McBride also partnered with Caislin Tracey from Greencastle, County Tyrone, in the Girls Under-19 Doubles, where the pair finished third.

In addition to handball, McBride plays Gaelic football for Antrim and has represented Ireland in basketball.
