An 85-year-old woman died following a two-vehicle collision on the Windyhill Road between Limavady and Coleraine on Saturday.

The woman, named as Maud Kerr from Macosquin, was pronounced dead at the scene. A man in his 80s was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police received a report of the collision at approximately 12.30pm. Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit attended along with other emergency services.

Detective Inspector Stewart appealed for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward, quoting reference 584 12/09/26.

Local MLA Claire Sugden expressed sympathy for the family and noted that there have been a number of recent road fatalities.

The charity Life After, which supports people bereaved by road deaths, also offered condolences and said support is available.
