Enniskillen Town United recorded their first league victory of the Fermanagh and Western Football League season, defeating Omagh Hospitals 11-1 at home.

James Harrigan scored four times, while Barry Goodwin and Nicholas Collen each registered hat-tricks. Frank Wallace and Michael Simpson also found the net for the reigning champions.

The match was barely two minutes old when Harrigan opened the scoring, converting a delivery from new signing Shea Trainor Coyle after Goodwin broke down the left. Wallace doubled the lead in the 19th minute, lifting a blocked Harrigan effort into the top corner. Harrigan then struck twice in quick succession, heading in a Goodwin corner before pouncing on a spilled cross to complete his hat-trick before the interval.

Simpson extended the advantage shortly after half-time, powering a header into the net from another Goodwin corner. Goodwin then produced a long-range finish, scooping a pass from Collen before rifling the ball into the top corner. Collen made it seven in the 57th minute, and Goodwin added an eighth moments later after his initial shot was saved. He completed his treble by racing between two defenders and lifting the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.

Harrigan claimed his fourth in the 75th minute, latching onto Cathal Beacom’s pass, rounding the goalkeeper and slotting into an empty net. Collen had the final say five minutes from time, driving a left-footed shot into the far corner from just inside the penalty area.

Manager Ryan Hanna said the performance was of high quality from the first whistle to the last, and he was particularly pleased with the team’s ruthlessness in front of goal. He noted that the side had created chances in earlier fixtures without being rewarded, and he praised the build-up play behind several of the goals. He also credited Omagh Hospitals for continuing to compete until the final whistle.

Town entered the match without a league win, having lost to Strathroy Harps, and were also defeated by Enniskillen Rangers in the Kennedy Cup.
