A car reported stolen from Derry city centre was recovered after a cross-border operation involving the PSNI and An Garda Síochána.

Police received a report around 5.15pm on Sunday 23 August that a car had been taken without authority from the city centre and driven away. The vehicle was a white Seat Leon.

PSNI officers later sighted the car on the Skeoge Link Road, travelling towards Galliagh. They activated their blue lights and siren, but the driver did not stop and continued on the road towards the border.

The car was subsequently intercepted by An Garda Síochána, who had been alerted to the incident. Enquiries remain ongoing.

PSNI Chief Inspector Ian Ferriby described the outcome as a good example of cross-border work between the two police services. He also appealed for anyone who may have captured dash cam footage of the vehicle to contact police.
