Ards FC made it three matches unbeaten at the start of the NIFL Championship season after a 3-1 win at Warrenpoint Town on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead in the 20th minute when Jamie Browne won the ball near the touchline and cut back for Ethan Simpson to score. Warrenpoint had earlier seen an effort ruled out for offside.

Warrenpoint's James Murray was shown a red card early in the second half for pulling back Eamon Scannell. Ards' numerical edge lasted five minutes before James McClure received a second yellow card.

Warrenpoint levelled through Jinadu with 11 minutes remaining. Ards responded four minutes later when Fiontan O'Boyle turned in a cross from Browne.

Ards were awarded a penalty with five minutes left, but Maxwell's spot kick was saved. Browne then sealed the win with a close-range finish. Warrenpoint had a stoppage-time goal disallowed for a foul.

The result leaves Ards joint top with Newington on seven points from three games.
