Trading Standards Service conducted 87 unannounced inspections at petrol stations and fuel retailers across Northern Ireland between April and July. The inspections aimed to verify that consumers receive the full amount of fuel they pay for when filling up.

The campaign found that the majority of fuel retailers meet the expected standards. It also resulted in swift action where issues were discovered, according to feedback provided by an elected representative.

Ms Armstrong said consumers deserve confidence that they receive exactly what they pay for when purchasing fuel. With fuel prices remaining high, she stated, robust checks are essential to protect consumers and ensure value for money.

She commended Trading Standards for carrying out the inspections and for acting quickly when problems were identified.
