Lidl Northern Ireland has launched a free classroom programme called Lidl Foodies for primary school pupils aged four to seven across Northern Ireland.

The programme is designed to help children develop healthy eating habits and a positive relationship with food. It teaches pupils where food comes from, how it is grown, and how to prepare simple healthy meals.

Teachers receive curriculum-linked lesson plans, activity sheets, and classroom resources. The content is arranged in three seasonal modules covering exploring, growing, and making food, while supporting key areas of the primary curriculum.

Caroline McKenna, a former teacher, author, and educator from County Down, is supporting the launch. She said practical learning activities are powerful for young children and that the programme makes food education and nutrition accessible and engaging. She urged schools and teachers to take part.

Registration opens on September 15 through the National Schools Partnership.
