The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs has opened applications for the 2026-27 Northern Ireland Regional Food Programme. The programme funds projects that promote high quality local food and drink. Eligible applicants include not-for-profit groups with Northern Ireland membership, registered charities, and not-for-profit regional development agencies such as borough or district councils.

Projects must align with the outcomes of the Food Strategy Framework and Food Action Plan. Funding covers up to 40 percent of eligible costs for regional fairs and exhibitions, seminars and workshops, and information programmes. Collaborative projects involving multiple eligible organisations are encouraged.

Applications target projects occurring between 1 May 2026 and 30 September 2026. The deadline for submissions is 4:00pm on 29 April 2026. Awards depend on available budget.

Application forms and guidance notes are available for download from the DAERA website. The programme has previously supported local events and initiatives in these funding areas.
