A community tea party in Derry featured music, comedy and circus performances for local families.

The event, called The Mad Tea Party, took place in Meenan Square on Wednesday. Dove House Community Trust organised the afternoon.

DJ Shea opened the show with music. Micky Doherty later performed and encouraged dancing among the crowd.

At 4pm, Jitterbug Jackson took the stage. His set combined circus, comedy, dance, poetry and song.

Jayne Quigg, manager of Dove House Community Trust, said the event created a lively atmosphere and was well received by people of all ages from Meenan Square, the Bogside and Brandywell.

The square had picnic benches, food, a coffee van and a slush van available for attendees.

Families and residents gathered throughout the afternoon. Children and adults took part in dancing and other activities.
