The Ould Lammas Fair, Ireland's oldest fair, will run in Ballycastle from Saturday 22 to Tuesday 25 August, bringing together centuries-old horse trading, street markets, live music and a fireworks display.

The traditional trading days on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 August form the core of the event, with street trading spread throughout the town from 8am to 9pm on Monday and 8am to 8.30pm on Tuesday. Horse trading takes place at Fairhill Street from 10am to 6pm on both days, and horseshoe demonstrations are scheduled every 90 minutes from noon to 5pm. Ballycastle Museum on Castle Street will be open from 11am to 5pm on both days.

Associated foods Yellow Man and dulse will again be part of the fair.

On Saturday 22 August, a Heavy Horse Show runs at Sheskburn Car Park from 10am to 3pm, followed by a parade through the town at 1pm. Vintage vehicles will be displayed at McQuillan GAA from 11am to 4pm, with a parade through Ballycastle at approximately 2pm. The seafront Family Fun Zone opens from 11am until late. Street theatre from Babcock & Bobbins – The Mac Factor runs from 3pm to 8pm. The Seafront Music Stage hosts performances from 3pm, featuring Caroline Fleck, Siobhan Mullan & Uke Thyme, Peter Brogan, Brian Robb, Andy Oliver & Special Guest, and Hitman and Her Band. The Naturally North Coast & Glens Market runs from 11am to 5pm, the Street Food Village from 11am to 11pm, and the Bubble Bike from noon to 6pm. Fireworks are scheduled for 9.30pm.

Sunday 23 August sees the Naturally North Coast & Glens Market open from 11am to 6pm, the Street Food Village from 11am to 11pm, and the Family Fun Zone from 11am until late. The Bubble Bike returns from noon to 6pm. On the Seafront Music Stage, Eoghan Quigg performs from 5pm to 6.15pm and Chloe Mac from 6.30pm to 7.45pm. Later, music moves to The Diamond, where Dusty Windowsills play from 7.15pm to 8.30pm and All Folk'd Up from 9pm to 10.30pm.

On the traditional fair days, a mobile animal farm operates at Clare Street, with quiet time from 10am to 11am, and have-a-go activities run from noon to 4pm. Buskers perform at locations throughout the town. The seafront music programme on Monday includes Baile an Chaistil Comhaltas, Mulholland Sisters, Sarah Carson, Jamie Sloan, Erin Doherty and Polar Bolero Duo. Tuesday's line-up features Baile an Chaistil Comhaltas, Tog go Bog e, Conor and Jack, James Bradley and Half Cut.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins, said the fair is a much-loved part of Ballycastle's identity and a highlight of the summer calendar, offering a unique combination of centuries-old traditions, local traders, entertainment and family activities. She welcomed both returning visitors and first-time attendees.
