People gathered at several locations in Portrush, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, to watch a solar eclipse. They lined the West Strand, took to the water on paddleboards and boats, and watched from Ramore Head and the harbour walls.

Heavy cloud cover meant the sky only darkened slightly, preventing observers from seeing a more dramatic eclipse. The view was limited to thick cloud.

The next solar eclipse visible from the UK will be a partial one on 2 August 2027, with 30 to 45 per cent of the sun covered. A total solar eclipse will not be visible from the UK until 23 September 2090.
