Teenagers gathered in Omagh after Tyrone’s defeat to Cork in the All-Ireland Minor Football Final, and police have now issued warnings about underage drinking.

Officers from the Fermanagh and Omagh District said they were aware of licensed premises serving alcohol to minors, and reminded businesses that serving underage patrons is illegal and will not be tolerated.

Parents were urged to know where their children are and who they are with, and to ensure they are not consuming alcohol.

A PSNI spokesperson said that in the 24 hours after the match, officers dealt with the effects of teenagers drinking. Young people without experience risk alcohol poisoning and other harm.

The spokesperson added that officers were on patrol in Omagh town centre on the evening after the match to help keep young people safe.
