Social housing development proposed in Toomebridge
A full planning application has been submitted for a social housing development on land behind 36-42 Main Street in Toomebridge, County Antrim. The proposal, made by an agent on behalf of JAMDAC Developments Ltd, includes the demolition of a property at 42 Main Street and the creation of a new access road.
The scheme, brought forward in partnership with the Rural Housing Association, would deliver 14 dwellings on a brownfield site. It comprises two apartment units, seven two-bedroom houses, and a three-bedroom bungalow designed for residents with complex needs. The layout is arranged around a central inward-facing design accessed from the new entrance road.
The Housing Executive has estimated that 18 new social houses are required in Toomebridge by 2029. This development would help meet that need within a location the planning statement describes as highly sustainable.
