Five staff are primarily assigned to the upkeep of Tollymore Forest Park in County Down, the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) has confirmed.

The department issued a statement in response to queries about the park's maintenance, outlining the resources allocated.

A team of 12 people works across forests in the Down and Armagh area, with five focused on Tollymore, the statement said. The park is maintained through a structured inspection programme of its recreational facilities to ensure visitor safety and high standards.

Funding comes from the Forest Service budget within DAERA, and the service said it will continue to manage the site, noting its important heritage and popularity for outdoor recreation.

Tollymore Forest Park draws visitors for both its core facilities and its wider natural environment. The department described it as a living landscape shaped by natural forces such as storms, heavy rain, disease and seasonal change.
