Co Tyrone man fined £150 for cannabis possession
A Co Tyrone man has been fined £150 after police discovered cannabis in a shed at his home in Moygashel.
Kody Hegarty, of Prince Andrew Crescent, pleaded guilty to possessing the Class B drug on April 4 last year.
A prosecutor told Dungannon Magistrates Court that officers, who were in the area on other business, smelled cannabis coming from a metal shed at the rear of a property. They found Hegarty inside the shed.
A search recovered two grams of cannabis and about half a gram of a cannabis-and-tobacco mixture. Hegarty admitted the substances were his.
A defence solicitor said it was Hegarty’s first court appearance for the matter and that he had made full admissions.
District Judge Francis Rafferty imposed the fine, ordered the destruction of the drug, and allowed ten weeks to pay.
