Newcastle musician Lemonade Shoelace releases new EP 'Magnetised'
Lemonade Shoelace, the project of Newcastle musician Ruairi, released a new EP on Friday entitled 'Magnetised'.
Writing on social media, Ruairi described the collection as a short diary touching on escapism, introspection, love and self-acceptance. He said the EP is intended for those who enjoy being in love but habitually push it away, perhaps because it feels undeserved.
The EP includes the recent single 'Turn Yourself Around', which Ruairi created in London in 2023 with collaborators Jules Apollinaire and Natalie Findlay. He recalled travelling from Belfast with a severe flu and nearly cancelling the session but deciding to channel the illness into a different vocal approach. He stated the song addresses unrequited love and the desire to encourage a loved one to recognise the goodness in their own life.
The release follows his first single in over a year, 'Forget to Remember', issued earlier in 2026.
