A Derry teenager who won a national pageant title has been recognised by the city’s mayor.

Brooke Hutcheon was recently crowned Teen Diamond Ireland 2026. She will travel to the United States in 2027 to represent Ireland at an international pageant.

Mayor of Derry and Strabane Grace Uí Niallais presented her with a civic honour during a gathering at the council offices.

Family members who attended included her mother Marguerite, father Eugene, sister Shannon, grandmother Marian, and grandfather Cecil.

Photographs from the event show the mayor with Hutcheon and her relatives.

No further details of the upcoming US competition were disclosed.
