Rossa defeated Sarsfields 1-17 to 1-11 in an ACFL Division One match at The Bear Pit in Belfast on Wednesday evening. Thomas Morgan's second-half goal proved decisive as the visitors pulled clear in the closing stages.

Dominic McEnhill was the game's top scorer with six points, three from frees. Morgan finished with 1-3 from play. For Sarsfields, Liam Mitchell scored a first-half goal, but the home side could not sustain their challenge.

Rossa started brightly, with points from Mick Byrne, McEnhill and Morgan giving them an early four-point lead. Sarsfields responded when Mitchell hammered the ball into the net, and the teams went into half-time separated by just two points.

After the break, Morgan and McEnhill stretched Rossa's advantage before Cormac Murray's two-pointer pulled Sarsfields back into contention. Daniel Smyth added two quick scores for the hosts, but Rossa then regained control when Morgan evaded the defence and rifled a shot into the roof of the net.

McEnhill added a series of late points to keep Rossa in front. Sarsfields managed late scores from Joe McNally and Tomas Skillen but could not reduce the deficit.

The result leaves Rossa well placed with two league fixtures remaining. Sarsfields must win their final two games to retain their Division One status.
