Designs Released for Killylea Community Centre After Planning Approval
A planning application to demolish a former Orange Hall in Killylea and construct a new community and sports centre was approved in May 2025 by the planning committee of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
The proposal, submitted by KEYS (Killylea Empowering Youth Scheme), had been recommended for refusal in November 2024. Planning officers cited the loss of open space, the building’s failure to respect the village character, and a lack of positive contribution to the townscape.
Armagh-based DA Architects Ltd has now published design images of the approved building. The images show a modern structure with outdoor lighting and landscaping. The ground floor will contain a reception area and sports courts. The first floor, reached by stairs and a lift, will house three meeting rooms, accessible toilets, and a minor hall with seating for 20.
The building is intended for use by a range of community groups and organisations once complete. Construction timelines have not yet been announced.
