Galgorm presses ahead with £20m revamp of Roe Valley Resort as new lodges and spa planned
Galgorm Collection is accelerating a £20 million transformation of Roe Valley Resort in Limavady, with a series of new facilities set to open this summer and further large-scale upgrades scheduled through to 2028.
The group confirmed that a new £1 million standalone accommodation, Mussenden Lodge, will launch this summer. The four-bedroom property sits around seven miles from the main resort, overlooks Lough Foyle and Binevenagh, and sleeps up to eight guests. It includes an outdoor hot tub and complimentary access to Roe Valley Resort's swimming pool.
Pool slides are due to open on 12 June, while a two-storey soft play area and a new bar and dining venue called The Leaping Hound will open on 3 July. The Leaping Hound draws its name from the local folklore story of the Dog's Leap, which is linked to the origins of Limavady's name. Galgorm described the venue as a social hub with live weekend entertainment.
Since acquiring the resort in November 2024 as part of a wider £50 million investment deal that also included Galgorm Castle Estate, the hospitality group has introduced a helter skelter, adventure playground, arcade and the Italian restaurant Fratelli.
Looking further ahead, the resort's lobby and reception will be upgraded by Christmas 2026, and a new indoor-outdoor adult spa is planned for spring 2027. Additional conference and event facilities are scheduled for 2028. The group is also proposing a new championship links golf course at Bellarena, which it believes will bolster Northern Ireland's golf tourism appeal.
Colin Johnston, chief executive of Galgorm Collection, said the company sees great potential in the North West and is focused on building on the property's strengths while attracting new audiences. He noted that guests have come from across Ireland, Great Britain and farther afield.
Laura McCorry, chief executive of Tourism NI, said continued private investment is helping to strengthen the region's profile, pointing to its natural landscapes, heritage and world-class golf offering. She added that events such as The Open Championship help reinforce Northern Ireland's position as a premium leisure and golf destination.
