A 69-year-old woman from Craigavon appeared at Craigavon Magistrates Court on charges of driving with excess alcohol.

Gerti McMahon of Pinebank, Craigavon pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, driving without a licence and failing to wear a seatbelt.

Police stopped her BMW on the Lake Road, Craigavon on May 1. Officers found a quarter bottle of vodka in the driver's door.

An evidential breath test recorded 47 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

Her driving licence had expired three weeks earlier.

The court imposed a 12-month driving ban and a £150 fine for the excess alcohol offence. Separate one-month bans and fines of £100 each were imposed for the seatbelt and licence offences.

The defendant has no prior convictions.
