Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has appointed AtkinsRéalis to provide design and construction management services for Belfast Rapid Transit Phase 2.

The contract covers detailed design work and preparation for the construction phase of extensions to the Glider network.

Survey work began in June 2025 to support preliminary design. The Outline Business Case was approved in December 2025.

The new phase will extend the Glider service into north and south Belfast. The existing Glider service operates in east and west Belfast.

Minister Kimmins said the current Glider service has been a success and that she remains committed to delivering Phase 2.
