North West Regional College will hold a careers event on 9 June at its Strabane campus.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will focus on dental nursing training options.

Courses on offer include the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing, which can be taken full time or part time, plus two new programmes in Fluoride Varnish Application and the Level 4 Certificate in Orthodontic Dental Nursing.

Training is available at the Strabane and Limavady campuses.

Lecturer Michaela Doherty said the event will allow school leavers and adults to view demonstrations and speak with current and former students.

She said existing dental nurses can also attend to learn about the new courses while remaining in employment.

Dr Meabh Owens from Ebrington Dental will attend and answer questions about careers in the field.

Owens said several staff at the practice completed the apprenticeship programme at the college and now work in patient care.
