DAERA has opened a recruitment process for the Chair and 15 members of the Just Transition Commission.

The Commission will advise Northern Ireland departments on climate policy and oversee the just transition provisions of the Climate Change Act.

Twelve sectors must be represented on the body: academia, agriculture, built environment, civic society, energy, environmental groups, fisheries, green finance, the rural sector, trade unions, transport and youth groups.

Minister Andrew Muir said the Commission will provide independent advice and oversight to support workers, communities and sectors in shaping policies that decarbonise the economy.

Applications close at noon on Thursday 25 June 2026. Details are published on the nidirect website.
