Judge Queries Benefits for Non-Resident in Dungannon Case
A district judge at Dungannon Magistrates Court has adjourned sentencing in a restraining order breach case after raising questions about state benefits paid to someone living outside the jurisdiction.
Karolina Szydlowska, 31, of Crannog Way, Dungannon, was due to be sentenced for driving past a Dungannon address and sounding the horn on multiple occasions between 28 November and 2 December last year.
The court heard that the actions breached an existing restraining order.
Judge Francis Rafferty said there was "something not quite right" and requested further information on how a person not resident in the jurisdiction, apart from occasional visits to a child, continues to receive benefits.
A Public Prosecution Service lawyer told the court the investigating officer would examine the matter.
The case was adjourned until 12 June.
