DUP MLA calls for action after Sinn Fein net zero shift
DUP MLA Deborah Erskine has called on Sinn Fein to follow its reported shift on net zero policy with concrete measures.
Erskine raised the matter in the Northern Ireland Assembly. She noted that the DUP had previously warned about the costs of net zero targets and had called for economic analysis of their impact on households, farming and jobs.
She said other parties had opposed those calls only weeks earlier.
Erskine stated that political repositioning alone is insufficient. She said any change in position by Sinn Fein must be matched by action from the First Minister.
She called for a balanced approach that protects the environment while also safeguarding jobs, food production, competitiveness and living standards.
The MLA said common sense and economic reality should replace political grandstanding.
