Two authors from Northern Ireland will launch books detailing their experiences with bipolar affective disorder at a joint event in Newry.

Mark Brownlee of Armagh and Eamon McKeever of Creggan will hold the launch at Ballybot House on 10 June at 6pm. Both books describe periods of hospital admission linked to the condition.

Brownlee, a mental health support worker, follows his 2023 novel with a poetry collection titled Mania. The poems cover his stay at Bluestone Psychiatric Hospital in Craigavon from December 2014 to May 2015.

McKeever’s first book, My Life So Far, covers his experiences of childhood abuse and later mental health challenges.

The event will include book signings, readings and discussions. Copies will be sold for £5, with proceeds going to the Samaritans.

Both books are available on Amazon.
