A 32-year-old man appeared in court in Derry charged with the theft of £2,250 from a Post Office in Drumbane Gardens.

Dean Robinson, of London Street in Derry, faced one count of robbery and two counts of assault.

All alleged offences took place on May 15.

A police officer linked the accused to the charges during the hearing.

Defence counsel Stephen Chapman stated that the defence was not ready to apply for bail.

Robinson was remanded in custody and is due to appear again on June 4.
