A play park in Taghnevan has reopened after repeated vandalism forced its temporary closure.

The park in Co Armagh was shut for several months while Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council addressed ongoing damage including graffiti and broken equipment.

Council statements said the closure was necessary to tackle anti-social behaviour at the site.

Sinn Fein councillor Mary O'Dowd welcomed the reopening and thanked the council for making the issue a priority.

O'Dowd called on those responsible for the damage to consider the impact on children and local families.

Parents have been urged to speak with their children about respecting public amenities.

The park is now open and available for community use.
