Enniskillen Teacher Maeve Gallagher Dies at Age 70
The funeral of Enniskillen teacher Maeve Gallagher was held on Monday 18 May at St Michael's Church in Enniskillen.
Mrs Gallagher died on Friday 15 May.
Parish priest Fr Raymond Donnelly told mourners that Mrs Gallagher gave herself fully to others and was ceaseless in her care for people.
Fr Donnelly said teaching was a vocation for her rather than a profession.
Mrs Gallagher taught at Rossdoney Primary School in Bellanaleck and later at St Teresa's Primary School in Enniskillen.
Fr Donnelly noted that Mrs Gallagher was only townlands away from her husband Bryan, who taught at St Mary's Mullymesker Primary School.
Mourners heard that Mrs Gallagher dedicated herself to the children and believed passionately in the gift of strong reading and writing skills.
Fr Donnelly recalled that Mrs Gallagher covered school expenses for families facing financial hardship and offered comfort to a grieving six-year-old pupil.
Mrs Gallagher was devoted to her children Declan, Garvan, Ciara, Bryan Óg and Ríana.
She was survived by her husband Bryan and her children.
Mrs Gallagher was buried in Cross Cemetery following the service.
