Dementia Awareness Sessions Scheduled Across South Eastern Trust Area
The South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust will hold information sessions during Dementia Action Week to assist people concerned about memory issues or dementia diagnoses.
The Dementia Friendly Communities Partnership in the South Eastern Trust area aims to help individuals identify early dementia signs and seek support.
Health Development Specialist Sandra Glover stated that staff will provide information, facilitate discussions with families, and distribute the 'Worried About Your Memory' booklet, which outlines dementia signs and next steps.
Glover noted efforts to supply local businesses with information packs and promote dementia-friendly practices through patience, awareness, and clear communication.
She encouraged becoming an Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friend to foster community support and start conversations about dementia.
Glover advised contacting a GP or attending sessions for those worried about their own or a close one's memory.
Sessions are set for Eurospar in Portaferry on Tuesday, May 19, from 10.30am to 12.30pm; Eurospar on Ardglass Road in Downpatrick on Wednesday, May 20, from 10am to 1pm; Lesley Bloomfield Shopping Centre on Thursday, May 21, from 10am to 4pm; and Eurospar in Kircubbin on Thursday, May 21, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
