Environment Minister Approves Fast-Tracking for Five Northern Ireland Planning Projects
Northern Ireland Environment Minister Andrew Muir has endorsed fast-tracking five planning applications. The projects include a teaching centre at Magee, a pumping station at Coshquin, a 33-unit social housing development in Claudy, public realm works in Strabane, and a discharge consent at Mitchell Park in Castlederg.
The prioritisation pilot began in March 2025 via the Heads of Planning Group NI and the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. The group selected five cases for priority handling by the agency.
Muir provided this information in response to an Assembly question from Foyle MLA Mark H. Durkan.
Planners view the Magee teaching centre as a key civic priority. The Coshquin pumping station supports major housing developments in the city.
